Lovebug Doxies specialize in raising Miniature Dachshunds, both in Long Hair and Smooth Coat varieties. We are based in Belmont, Michigan, and all of our puppies must be picked up directly from our home.
Our pups typically grow to a size of 9-13 lbs, though occasionally a “tweenie” or small standard Dachshund will be born. Please note, size can only be estimated. The Adoption Application serves as my only contact form. While I have a strong presence on social media, I do not conduct business via direct messages (DMs) on any platform. All inquiries must come through the application form.

Adoption fees range from $2200-3200. The deposit to reserve your pick of the litter is $400. Zelle, Paypal, or money order are accepted for deposits. Balance is due in cash, in person on pick up day. As a fraud prevention policy, cash is the only payment method for your balance.
All payments are non-refundable, however under certain extreme circumstances, like a family tragedy prior to pick up day, deposits can be transferred for up to one year.

The journey of your puppy begins with thorough genetic and physical screenings for both parents, followed by exceptional care for the expectant mother. This includes prenatal vitamins, ultrasounds, regular vet visits, premium nutrition, and a safe, assisted labor and delivery. For the puppies, we ensure proper care, including bottle or tube feeding if necessary, routine deworming, grooming, weekly photo sessions, vaccinations, socialization, and, of course, endless love.
On pickup day, each puppy will receive a thoughtfully curated gift basket. This will include a travel carrier filled with treats, toys, a cozy blanket, a container of their food, and their full health records. They'll also be wearing a new collar to match their new beginning.
*Please note, pet puppies will not come with AKC papers. Only breeding or show-quality puppies will be provided with AKC registration.
As a dedicated breeder, I remain available to answer any questions or address concerns long after the puppies leave for their forever homes. I’m just an email away and here to support you every step of the way. -
Step one: Apply to join the waiting list. Once approved, you will begin receiving litter announcements via email.
Step two: Respond to the birth announcement of your choice. If your pick of the litter is still available at that moment, I will reply with a walkthrough for placing your deposit to reserve him/her.
Step three: Send your deposit and completed adoption contract to secure your reservation. I accept these electronically and through the mail.
Step four: Schedule pick up. Each litter will be assigned a 2-4 day pick up window at birth. The schedule of available appointments will be provided to you directly after your deposit/contract are received.

As a private residence and not a public facility/kennel, the only guests permitted on the premises are those picking up their puppy or dropping off their female for stud services. This policy serves two important purposes: it ensures the privacy of my children within our home and upholds essential health and safety standards. Limiting visitors helps prevent the spread of infections, particularly the deadly Parvo virus, which can be especially dangerous for puppies with underdeveloped immune systems.
The first opportunity to meet your new puppy will be on the day you bring them home, and we welcome your whole family to join in that special moment! -
From birth, my puppies are handled daily and raised in the heart of our home, allowing me to closely monitor them day and night. They grow up in a lively family environment, exposed to a variety of household sounds, activities, and interactions with my children.
Dachshunds are highly social dogs, which can make them more prone to separation anxiety. If you don’t have other dogs, be prepared for your puppy to require significant attention during the initial adjustment period. Some crying, particularly at night, is completely normal. Leaving their pack is a big transition, and while some puppies handle it better than others, it's common for them to cry.
Please be sure you can handle, and that your living situation allows for, a few nights of puppy crying. It may disturb a sleeping baby or irritate nearby neighbors, especially in apartment settings. Please consider these factors before adopting to ensure a smooth transition for both you and your new pup. -
