Summer Litters

On July 15th I took Muffin in for an urgent care visit prior to her due date. She hadn’t been feeling very well and I knew we’d need to cut her pregnancy short by just a bit. She was stuffed full of EIGHT pups which was causing anemia and stress on her heart, not to mention her other organs. C-section to the rescue! Muffin and her 8 pups came through it all like champs! She has healed beautifully and only needed help feeding her babies for the first week while she was getting the hang of motherhood, and learning how to feed a crew that large.

The Assorted Muffins are now 3 weeks old! Eyes are open and they’re trying to get up to walk now. They will be made available to the waiting list on Friday morning.

On July 25th Sunshine went into labor naturally. However, the first pup was a little crooked and only ever managed to get one hind leg into the birth canal. So off to the vet for a C-section we went. I wasn’t too sure that stuck puppy would survive but she did! Sunshine came home with four beautiful babies. Unfortunately, a few days later she had to return to the vet because her incision was opening up. Turns out the original surgeon didn’t do their best work, so a new surgeon had to go in and redo the entire thing. A full repair, at their expense. This time the incision looks very clean and tight! It’s held up for a week now so i think we’re in the clear.

Despite all that mess, The Al Dente Pasta pups were very well fed and cared for by Sunny. Top notch mum! These will be her last pups due to the botched c-section. They will be made available to the waiting list Friday morning.
