The Doxie Suite
An Extension Of My Home
In 2021 my pack got a brand new bedroom!! We spent the entire summer building them a Doxie Suite to suit their needs in every way. It includes a grooming station, three built in 5x5 ft pens with cozy raised beds, storage for all their food, toys, and supplies. It is ofcourse temperature controlled and equip with cameras so I can keep an eye on them if I’m away from home.
They also got an upgrade and expansion to their play yard. New fence for the large main yard and two runs for when boys need to be separated from girls in heat. We’ve got a double-decker dog house, a tunnel, big logs to sunbathe on, faux fire hydrant to pee on, and landscaping to attract the butterflies they like to chase.
Having their own room does not mean that they are not part of our daily lives inside the main house. They follow me from room to room all day lone. They are and will always be couch dogs raised by a family. They’re just such special spoiled dogs that they also have an entire room for themselves.
Moms have always delivered and reared pups in one of the two main living areas of our home so I can supervise and assist day n’ night like a proper helicopter mom. In this space, moms have privacy from the other adult dogs so they can relax and feel their babies are safe at all times. This is a peaceful environment to raise pups and still see household action & people to get used to the sounds and activity of a human family/children.
