Future Plans

A respectable breeding program is always evolving in an effort to improve. With the inclusion of new members and arrival of future generations I am continuously seeking to better the breed itself as well as my methods of raising those dogs. There are a great many things to learn from fellow breeders, one’s own new experiences, and medical advancements such as DNA testing.

In 2020 I welcomed 3 new young ladies. Cupcake is of my own breeding, Marigold is from KRZ Dachshunds in California, and Emerald is from Von Wolff Kennel just like Albus. Each is a step in the direction of improving the quality of my puppies as they all come from excellent, well tested, and proven quality bloodlines.

A couple of the goals I am working towards within my program are adding heavier bone & more substantial structure (less dainty), overall correct form, more smooth coats, and the cream color to our list of possibilities.

As previously mentioned there are also improvements to be made in one’s practices. From neonatal care to potty training, from diet to grooming techniques, etc… There is often a new tip, trick, or tool to try out. I have recently acquired my first stacking box, which is a training tool used to teach show dogs the appropriate standing position. I hope to use this tool to better display the conformation of my Dachshunds. Proper positioning will help with evaluation of each dog’s good points and faults according to the breed standard.

My hope is that 2021 will go a little smoother than 2020, which would allow us to proceed with our plan to create a beautiful addition to our home perfectly suited to our pets. An idea that is now two years in the making, but got put on the back burner due to covid. I’ve redesigned their nursery. I envision it complete with cozy beds, sparkly lights, storage galore, and a photo corner.
